We currently have 700 members of all ages, all walks of life, and from throughout New Zealand.
Affiliation Sweet Adelines New Zealand is Region 35 of Sweet Adelines, International, a non-profit organization of approximately 30,000 members in choruses and quartets, worldwide. The Headquarters is in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Region Our region is coordinated by a Management Team who is voted on by regional members and Sweet Adelines International.
Choruses Our region has 700 members, most of which belong to one of the 15 choruses throughout New Zealand. To find the chorus nearest you check out our regional map.
Quartets Most choruses have a number of members who form their own vocal quartets in addition to singing with the chorus.
Education In addition to sharing music with others, another great passion of ours is learning more about the art of a cappella singing. We strive for musical excellence with member involvement at chorus, regional and international levels; through education, understanding and sharing of our love of barbershop, four part harmony.
Convention - Competition In the early autumn of every year, our choruses and quartets are able to participate in the Region 35 Convention, our annual competition. Conventions are a special time for choruses and quartets from throughout New Zealand, to come together to sing, compete and get constructive feedback from an international panel of judges. The winners of the region convention in both chorus and quartet categories, are then entitled to travel to the Sweet Adeline International Convention held in a selected United States city each year.
